Japan - Shrines and Temples of Nikko

"The shrines and temples of Nikko, together with their natural surroundings, have for centuries been a sacred site known for its architectural and decorative masterpieces. They are closely associated with the history of the Tokugawa Shoguns."

There are two Shinto shrines Futarasan Shrine and Tōshō-gū and one Buddhist temple Rinnō-ji. I visited the magnificent Tokugawa shrines and natural splendour of Nikko. This postcard shows Yomeinon Gate of Toshogu Shrine of Nikko City, built in 1636 AD. Thanks to Kyoko of Japan.
