Finland - Fortress of Suomenlinna

"Built in the second half of the 18th century by Sweden on a group of islands located at the entrance of Helsinki's harbour, this fortress is an especially interesting example of European military architecture of the time."

  2. Absolutely one of the places you have to check out if in Helsinki. Nice place and full of history - but still having people living their every day life in the islands. There used to be one small grocery store there, but that's gone, I think. Couple of restaurants - one brewing it's own ale. Elementary school for 60-70 pupils going on. One church - popular for weddings. Just amazing place! Only 15-20 minutes away from the Helsinki city centre. Nice card and great stamp!
